The Sunshine Light Bulb Source
My plants react to full spectrum lamps as if they were in a sunny window. African violets, ivy, and other plants love this light. People look better, are able to read easier, and do fine detail work better under this lamp, a real boost to lifting the winter blues.
Excella and Connecta 99 Full spectrum fluorescent lamps are extremely close to natural September sunshine. Westinghouse Full Spectrums are similar to a day in June.
Color Rendering Index (CRI)
● Sunlight—100 CRI
● Excella—91.1 CRI
● Connecta 92—92 CRI
● Westinghouse—98 CRI
● Cool White—64.0 CRI
Let your eyes feel the difference. Your plants, your animals and you will enjoy the difference. The key is a high CRI in the color (Kelvin) you enjoy. Use all three lamps, depending on what effect you desire with lighting. Mix and match spring light with fall light and get the best of both seasons inside all year long.

Full spectrum light is a light source, which provides light close to natural sunshine. I use the term for lamps and light bulbs with a CRI or Color Rendering Index greater than 89 or 89% of natural sunshine. Sunlight has different colors according to the time of day as well as the season. Morning light is more yellow than evening light, which has more red and blues. Spring light has a lot more yellow than Fall’s blue/red light. These colors have a Kelvin number assigned. Morning spring sunshine ranges between 2800 to 3200 Kelvin. July at noon is closer to 5000 Kelvin. Fall light is in the 5500 to 5900 Kelvin range. Longitude, reflections, seasons and many factors determine natural light Kelvin.
Man made sunlight can help you when you chose the right light for the right task. The key is to “play with the lights” … learn your own needs. Then fill your home and office with SUNSHINE. These bulbs were designed to help with SAD.
There are two kinds of lamps, which are close to the fall light:
1.The full spectrum lamp manufactured by many companies. It has a soft, blue-white light with a CRI of about 89 to 93. The effect is a man-made skylight in your office.
2.The Neodymium lamp, a screw-in incandescent bulb in standard shapes A line, flood lights and globe lights. These bulbs are popular in Europe, because the light has a more natural balance of color and they are an excellent complement to full spectrum fluorescent lamps.
Notice how the plants grow towards the lights, not the window.
